What does the Florentines in the kitchen?

In the culinary arts, the word Florentine (pronounced "FLOWER-en-teen"), or the term refers to a recipe that is prepared in the Florentine style of the Italian region of Florence.

The best way to remember what it means is that a dish prepared with spinach Florentine characteristic.

Florentine recipes usually have a main ingredient, such as meat, poultry or fish, served on a bed of spinach and topped with a Mornay sauce. A Florentine recipe can also be baked with cheese or gold are covered.

A common recipe is Eggs Florentine Florentine, which is a variation of eggs benedict. Eggs Florentine is a poached egg on a bed of spinach on a toasted English muffin and topped with Mornay sauce (although it is common with hollandaise sauce instead of serving).

Note that the word Florentino has a different definition is not related to recipes made with spinach and Mornay sauce. It is a thin, crispy wafer or cookies, which is also known in Florence. The Florentine cookies with honey and nuts and sometimes covered with chocolate.
